I-70 Travel Information

If weather conditions require, CDOT will implement a Traction Law. Under this law, all motorists traveling on I-70 will need snow tires, tires with M/S designation, or 4WD. This law pertains to passenger vehicles both rented and owned. During severe storms, CDOT will implement a passenger vehicle Chain Law. Under this law, every vehicle on I-70 will be required to have chains or an alternative traction device. All tires must have a minimum one-eighth tread. This includes rental vehicles. Motorists traveling with inadequate equipment during a Traction Law or Chain Law will be subjected to a minimum $130 fine.
